Save Money and Clean Better: My Homemade Laundry Detergent Recipe
Tired of spending a fortune on laundry detergent that’s filled with chemicals you can’t pronounce? I’ve got you covered! This homemade laundry detergent is simple, cost-effective, and leaves your clothes fresh, clean and smelling amazing. Plus, you can customize the scent to make it uniquely yours. Let’s dive in!
What You’ll Need:
3 lbs of washing soda
65 oz. (4lbs) of borax
55 oz. (3 lbs) washing soda
3 bars of Fels-Naptha soap
48 oz. (3 lbs) of OxiClean
48 oz. (3 lbs) of baking soda
4 oz. of your favorite scented oil ( I love the scent Royalty) by RWCO
How to Make It:
Grate the Fels Naptha soap using a cheese grater or food processor until it’s in fine powderly shreds. This ensures it dissolves easily in the wash.
In a large container or bucket, mix all the dry ingredients- washing soda, borax, OxiClean and baking soda.
Add the grated Fels-Naptha soap to the dry mixture and stir well to combine.
Slowly add your scented oil to the mixture, stirring as you go. Make sure the oil is evenly distributed.
Store your detergent in an airtight container.
How to use it:
For a standard load: Use 2 tablespoons of detergent
For larger or heavily soiled loads: Use 3-4 tablespoons.
This recipe works in both high-efficiency (HE) and regular washing machines!
Why I Love This Detergent:
Cost-Effective: A little goes a long way, and this batch will last you months!
Customizable: You get to choose the scent and know exactly what’s in your detergent.
Eco-Friendly: Fewer harsh chemicals and less waste compared to store bought options.
There is something so satisfying about making your own household products, and this laundry detergent is no exception. It’s simple, effective, and leaves your clothes smelling amazing. Give it a try and tell me what you think!
